Davina Blog – 2/7/10

This week I’ve had a very moving week. I’ve been filming with some people for the new show I’m doing called Long Lost Family and I found it very moving because I really identified strongly with their story. It was quite an honour to be there with one particular lady and to do something positive; I think she’s had a ‘hole’ in her life for some time and that perhaps this week that has been filled. It’s such a nice programme to work on. We’ve had a very exciting week Chez Robertson as it was our 10th wedding anniversary and everything went mushy in our household. I was working on the actual day but Matthew did give me the most beautiful pair of earrings and that was so lovely. He’s extremely romantic my husband, he also got me a cake that said “Davina and Matthew Forever” which was quite literally the sweetest thing ever! The kids made a banner and it was just a really, really nice day. These days I think 10 years is definitely something to celebrate. It’s been tough at times, brilliant, a fantastic journey and just the most fun. I’m very lucky to have him – Matthew will never read this, but by some chance Matthew, if you happen to be reading my website one day– I love you very much.

We’ve also been awash with many sports days. My children are not blessed with speed but they are so lovely and do you know what I love? That I watch them put in so much effort. My motto in life has always been “Give more than is expected” and we try and impart that in the children – it doesn’t matter if you don’t win the race if you have given a little bit more, it doesn’t matter. You know you’ve done your very, very best and everyone admires you for that. So I’ve been a proud mummy, a proud wife, proud of my work and to top it off I’ve got an eviction tonight!

We’ve got this amazing thing tonight, a Big Brother first where Ben is going to have to perform to the crowd! He’ll be coming out of the house, have to perform a minute and a half of stand up comedy and then have to go back in. Also three girls up for nomination, all with very strong personalities, so I can’t wait to meet any of them – tonight’s going to be a huge show, I’m really excited! Check out the special Davina puppet they made me, too!

I’ve got a very exciting weekend because I’m always amazed when people ask me to be godparents, and Matthew and I have been asked by some friends of ours, so we’ll be going to the christening and my daughter’s doing a show… Summer is always really busy. On Sunday night Matthew and I are off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Audi are treating us to a night out so that will be lots of fun.

I feel like sharing that last week I lost my aunty Sheena and I felt like acknowledging that she was a very lovely lady. We’ll all miss her very much - I want to remember her and how brilliant she was, Sheena was my rock and roll aunty and she’d be really pleased if she got a mention in my blog. Big love to you Sheena wherever you are!

  • Sorry to read about the loss of your aunt, I'm in the same place. Jut a wee note with regard to the pig tail pullers on Twitter. You are a very fair and empathetic interviewer and subtly negotiate sensitive territory whilst addressing obvious issues (under pressure and through a hectic schedule) and never reveal any chinks in your armour or professionalism. Congratulations on all your work as the big personality and human face of Big Brother- you have even enticed 'guffawers' like me to watch given your infectious enthusiasm and ad hoc off script facial expressions which convey what most of us are thinking more than anything pre-written. It would be hilarious if Peter Edgar Jones was as accessible- he'd be cyber beaten death from all angles within seconds!
