No Ticket to Ride • 21/07/2010

So, I just thought I’d do a quick blog to update all you lovely people, because sometimes 140 characters just aren’t enough!

I’ve come away to France for my annual trip across the Channel - but don’t worry,  I am still watching Big Brother every night! Every year I go away for three weeks, and then like clockwork I’m on the plane each Friday morning for the live shows and back in the air by the Saturday morning. It works like a treat...that is until someone decides to throw in a wild card and walk out, meaning that I got a call saying that ‘actually we’d like to film a show the next day’. Normally this is absolutely fine, however France, the wonderful country that it is, LOVES a strike. And so it comes to pass that air traffic controllers up and down the country have walked out in protest against Brussels, and what they feel is their desire to control them.

Now, I salute the controllers making a stance, but it doesn’t half cock up travelling back to the UK! Upon arriving at the airport I was told my flight was cancelled, tried to get on the next flight on standby, and well, did something that I never, ever usually do – I pulled out the ‘Davina McCall’ card. I phoned up the British Airways ‘Silver Card’ holders' hotline, and somewhat desperately explained that I had to get back to the UK in order to present a live show that evening! My toes were curling throughout the entire call as I can’t stand doing stuff like that, it is honestly the most embarrassing thing to do as there’s always the risk the person at the other end will say ‘Who?’ or ‘What? I’ve never even heard of you!’

Thank God the person that picked up had indeed seen Big Brother a couple of times, and somewhat appreciated the urgency. Despite this, he simply couldn’t definitely get me a place on the flight, which was then delayed twice by several hours. Hope was fading, there was no way I was going to get back in time!

Then there was talk about hiring out a private jet! Oh my God, brilliant! A private jet to fly me back – that would be hilarious! But, as you can probably guess – this didn’t happen as air traffic control doesn’t care what type of plane you fly in, private jet or no private jet! It’s the same for everybody and that’s that. So, after a few hours stuck in limbo at the airport, we had to give up the ghost and head home defeated.

Now, what that means is that the show you will see tonight will be a normal, ‘highlights of what happened in the house yesterday’ show. We were going to be interviewing Caoimhe tonight, but now that obviously isn’t going to happen, however we may potentially do it on Friday.

For those fellow tweeters, you may have noticed I said that on Friday there will be an eviction show. There WILL be a show but there WILL NOT be an eviction as Keeley is currently in hospital with a fractured ankle, and has had to have an operation. Keeley and the Big Brother producers will now decide, together, on what she wants to do and whether she wants to go back into the house or not.

So, we thought that because of the way the week has panned out, the best thing to do would be to cancel Friday’s eviction but there will still be an amazing show on Friday. As people are now generally aware, Andrew Stone from Pineapple Dance Studios is now in the house teaching the housemates a Glee-style routine, which you’ll be seeing a bit more of on Friday night. Trust me, even if I have to swim, I will be back on Friday with bells on!

There will be no eviction, but highlights from the day before and maybe, just maybe a little something else...a little sprinkling of excitement. Lord only knows what it will be, Big Brother is even surprising me at the moment, and I’m the blimmin’ presenter!

So that’s the definitive low-down.....I think...for now... But to be honest, knowing Big Brother as I do, this could all change tomorrow!

  • Keeley had to have an operation ?? My goodness she was awfully brave for it to be that bbad ?? Do you know what the exact diagnosis of fracture was ? I do hope she goes back in, but I seriously doubt it as she'll be on some nice pain killers that make her queeeezy !! All the best to kkeeley. :) xx

    I live in a Channel port and would happily have driven down to collect you and waft you back to London in double quick time. (I have done a little chauffeuring in my time.) You could even have had a sleep on the way, I wouldn't have minded!!!

  • Davina, why are you doing a special interview with Keever? She walked. If you have to do the interview I hope you can have a live audience so that Keever gets to experience how the public feel about her as all the housemates who have the courage/ steadfastness to stay until evicted must.

  • Davina you should be in the house :-)!! We need better house mates in there!! Espescially ones without weak ankles pmsl!! I didn't even know how what or when to audition!! I would be making that house a happy house with a typical friday night argument!! LOL i keep thinking of mad tasks and how i would love to enter the house!! Like bungee jumping into the garden just freak them out lol!! Or hide in the nest before they wake up and then when a couple have come in just jump up and scare the s*** out of them bahaha!!!! I would be a mole!! hiding stuff all the time!! swapping people draws around when there not looking!! making sure to throw something at Ben everynight bahahaha!! you know what would be even cooler!! hide a new house mate under one of them beds that raise!! Then when it rises jump out haha!! i am a prankster!! xx i keep have dreams of being in the nest with jj.....
