No Sugar and too much Pepper! • 06/08/2010

I’ve had a really lovely week – my best friend in the entire world has been down staying this week. Her kids and my kids have grown up together so it has been absolutely lovely to have us all together – I could have had her stay forever she is such a positive force in my life. My in-laws are here as well, now normally people shriek in horror at the thought of this but Matthew’s parents are really laid back, genuinely lovely people. We’ve had a great laugh – been out for some meals and they even endured a few nights of Big Brother.

I have to say I am in slight mourning - Matthew hasn’t really got into this year’s Big Brother.  It is the first year when he has missed episodes, although not the Friday ones! It’s really sad that we can’t sit holding hands watching and laughing at the show, I keep trying to explain to him that it is the BEST YEAR EVER! So thank the lord for Twitter which means I get to share it with soooo many people online as the show happens.

I have to say Twitter has gone to a dark place this week and I am attributing that to Sam Pepper. The producers put Sam in because he says exactly what he thinks and they wanted to make sure the house got spiced up with some Pepper (see what I did there!). From my count I’d say about 70% can’t stand him whilst the others think he is hilarious. He loves throwing a spanner in the works but I don’t think he is the personification of evil as people are making him out to be. Take for example him and Josie, he likes and might even fancy her a bit but doesn’t know how to express himself. So as much as Josie comes in and says he just had a go at me, she often kick-starts the argument by starting up again after he has attempted to be normal with her. What he doesn’t understand is that Josie is so insecure, there is a bit on tonight’s show where she feels the pressure of being on TV and says she hates the way looks. She can’t see the beauty inside her because she is feeling uncomfortable and then add to that someone bantering at you and it’s a lot to handle. Sam has definitely spotted the Achilles heel and whenever they flare up he goes straight for it  yesterday he said something like ”you look stupid in a bikini” – he knows what he is doing! I’m not defending Sam and some of the stuff he is saying is really horrible but then so are some of the things Josie says are just as bad. Dave put it well, he likes him but he says Sam has given him lots of reasons to nominate him (although by talking about nominating Sam he has got himself banned from nominating!). 

On a personal note I am on day 2 of no sugar. I went to see a doctor after feeling bloated and he asked if I was eating a lot of sugar as that can sometimes cause it. Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows that I have crazy late night sugar cravings and will scour the house looking for anything I can get. I’m trying to cut it out, still eating lots of fruit and normal meals but cutting out all the sugar. I can’t believe I used to eat so much – I used to drink coffee just so I could have the 3 sugars. As a result I have slept more in the last few days than in ages. You’ll see the new unbloated me tonight and I’ll be performing a bit of magic!

Before I go I must mention I am currently filming a new show for ITV1 called Long Lost Families, I was up in Nottingham filming for it this week and it is going to be brilliant.
