The latest from Davina...Ouch! • 05/07/2011

This week has been epic. On so many different levels.

Firstly, Matthew and I celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary on Wednesday. This is something of an achievement, not only is this 77 years in showbiz years, but it is also apparently the stage where most couples get divorced. Well, we are a week in and I still think he's pretty gorgeous so this bodes well.

We had planned to stay in London and go to a restaurant for a romantic break, however I had thought it would be easy booking a room last minute - but it was not. Wimbledon....hotels all full...so we were forced to  book somewhere we had never been...

Aware that this was a little bit my fault (entirely my fault if truth be known) I thought I had better beautify myself for the Matthew as I had some serious making up to do, so off I trundle to my local beautician for my yearly wax. The reason it is yearly is because I HAVE NEVER KNOWN PAIN LIKE IT...........EVER.

So you can imagine her dismay as she surveys my 'area' with disappointment. As if it is a work of art that has been left to ruin.

"Lets start with down there first".... I am already clenching....and with clenching comes sweating...

So the first strip comes noisily off and I am talking jibberish in a pathetic attempt to take my mindoff the excruciating agony.

"Ah..it's your anniversary, shall we take off a bit more?" ARGGGGHHHHHHH "How about a bit more?" ARGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH The result a beautiful Brazilian. Wax, not man. I'm a convert, this is it, every five weeks for the rest of my life...forever..I LOVE IT.

She SWEARS the pain gets less if you can keep it under control. After that legs and eyebrows were no problem. I laughed in the face of legs and eyebrows...HAHAHAHAHAHAH! I've had a Brazilian, this is nothing!

I left the beautician feeling smug and sexy. I wish I could say there was a spring in my step but it would be a couple of hours before I would be able to do that..(ouch) So then I had the big sexy unveling to look forward to...

At dinner we get led to my favourite table that Matthew had called in advance and asked if we could have...

We have an amazing meal..laugh and talk passionately..i miss that sometimes, we live together but forget to really look into each others eyes, to really engage.

And then back to the hotel. I go into the bathroom to brush my teeth..get undressed..I look down there at my work of art and its carnage!!! I looked like a plucked chicken!! All red and angry...so I opted for the very very low lighting and slid seductively into bed. The rest is private. Shocking, I know, considering I have just described my Brazilian in gory detail but I have a line. It's a bit fuzzy and it keeps moving but for the moment that is where it is.

My story of Henley Regatta and Take That will come tomorrow!!!

  • Hi Davina, Congrats on 11 years. We clocked up 25 years last December. Not bad conidering that's a real challenge for two men! LOL ... I wonder if you received the copy of my book that I sent to you via your agents? It's called They Can't Touch Him Now. I have applied to Find My Family, but I thought you might be interested in the book, whether or not I am selected for the show. I am not sure how the viewers enjoy the prog who are not searching, but I can tell you, I watch it with complete envy (and with a huge lump in my throat) as I watch those who get re-united. I truly hope there will be a second and third etc series. The show is a lot better than a lot of the c**p that get's put on. Hope to hear from you - regards James

  • Oh how I miss getting my Hollywood every four weeks, it makes you feel great doesn't it??? Nobody ever saw or 'experienced' mine before I moved out to the country side where they have never heard of such a thing, but that didn't matter, I only ever did it for me. It does get a LOT easier. Make sure it's hot wax and not warm strip wax they do it with though, I found after the hot there was no pain or chickeny skin after. Oh and happy anniversary! x

  • The things we do for love!
We (hubby & I) also celebrated 11 years in June but unlike the good wife like yourself, I went out for my monthly meal with the girls! He did say it was ok though as he had to work late & i'd won free tickets to see Rod Stewart @Hyde Park.
Hope the "plucked chicken" look has died down.
    Take care

  • Absolutely brilliant!!!!! Made me laugh out loud Davina!!!!
I have recently this year started Epilating, only the underarm
And leg area, which might I add my partner, Chris, had to give
A helping hand (just the underarm though) by putting a pillow
Over my face whilst the first hairs were plucked at the rate of
Knots!!!! I have never experienced pain like it!!! Now after 6 months
It's a breeze, but you can forget that little nasty plucky thing
Going anywhere near my bikini line!!!! Great blog Davina!!!! Xxxx
